It is not everyday we think about the after effects of a tooth extraction. I hear from patients it is just one tooth I wont miss it. Then down the road changes appear in the mouth their bite changes the opposing tooth continues to grow in the space where the other tooth was. This is called super eruption. The teeth adjacent to the extracted tooth begin to shift. The bite begins to collapse.

You want in place when you do.

ReplyDeleteIt is recommeneded to get a bone graft at the time you are doing an extraction. This is because the site is already open and ready to place the material.If placed at a later time, you would have to re-open the site to place the bone graft.
ReplyDeleteIt is much easier and cheaper to correct the defect at the time of tooth extraction than reconstructing it later which requires more invasive and expensive procedures.
